However the choice of plants for this type should be made very carefully as there is lack of growing space. 4. Balcony rail planters: These can be of two types: balcony edge-mounted planters and balcony rail-mounted planters. Metal frames are attached to the balcony rails and plant containers are simply placed inside these frames using a liner. However, these planters should be maintained and taken care of properly as these are directly exposed to the environment. Plants which can be placed in these planters include hibiscus, lemon grass, aloe vera, ferns, herbs, creepers etc.
